Here’s something I learned today.

Composer Akira Ifukube, famous – in Japanese classical music, film score and Godzilla fan circles – as the creator of the original soundtrack for Godzilla – including the appropriately majestic theme (the quality of which I only appreciate now in my youthful old age) died in February of this year.

It’s almost always an odd experience to learn the creator of art – yes, even pop art such as the big G – that effected your consciousness has passed on.

There’s a tendency to imagine them as eternal forces of nature.

Those who haven’t peeped the Arctic Monkeys’ stellar album already, should be beaten with a shoe.

Aside: did you know that the shoe hit -as opposed to the foot up the arse- is one of the lowest/highest -depending on how you look at it- forms of insult you can get from an Iraqi.

I suggest we start the trend here; that and carrying around NFL umps’ yellow flags to flag lameness etc.

Regardless (and check those Britrock biases at your momma’s), the music/songs alone is amazing for four 20 year old kids from Sheffield -an English industrial wasteland- who only picked up their tools about 1.5 years ago.
